The Center for Global Food Security is Purdue's vanguard unit for fighting global hunger and advocating for sustainable food. As Green Week heads into its fourth day, activities and organizations that focus on sustainable food are in the spotlight. Here, Gary Burniske, managing director of the Center for Global Food Security, talks about the center's ongoing efforts.

Green Week 2013

* A Green Week panel discussion will be held at 7-9 p.m. today with Steven Hallett, professor of botany and plant pathology; Kerry Rabenold, professor of biological sciences; and Mike Ursem, assistant director of university sustainability, green buildings and operations. The panel will take place in Hicks Undergraduate Library, Room G980D.

President's Forum on Nov. 7 to highlight engineering, computer science initiatives

The Purdue community is invited to join President Mitch Daniels for a President's Forum from 8 to 9 a.m. Nov. 7 in Purdue Memorial Union, South Ballroom. The forum will feature Daniels along with panelists who are leading Purdue Moves initiatives to expand the College of Engineering and strengthen computer science.

Local organizations like Lafayette Transitional Housing Center Inc. help families get back on their feet every year thanks to support by the United Way.

Purdue innovation kills waterborne microorganisms, produces safer drinking water

Ernest "Chip" R. Blatchley III, professor of civil engineering and environmental and ecological engineering, and other researchers are working to provide safe water supplies for millions of people by using ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun to purify water.

Men's basketball to hold intrasquad scrimmage

Boilermaker fans can get their first glimpse of the 2013-14 Purdue men's basketball team at an intrasquad scrimmage at 9:30 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 26) in Mackey Arena. The scrimmage is open to the public, and admission is free.

Promotion schedule available for Purdue basketball

The Purdue men's basketball team has announced its promotion schedule for all 19 home games to be played in Mackey Arena for the 2013-14 season.
