Whether it's teaching Purdue's agriculture students more effective research techniques or studying graduate students' data literacy needs, Marianne Stowell Bracke is dedicated to helping others learn. Bracke is an agricultural sciences information specialist and associate professor of library science. In addition to fostering undergraduate students' information literacy -- the ability to find, use and critically evaluate information -- she seeks to help graduate students and researchers find, access, manage, preserve, and, in some cases, share data.

A new reward and recognition program for eligible employees will be available on Oct. 1: The Bravo Award. The Bravo Award seeks to highlight the excellence found across all areas and job functions at the University by recognizing extraordinary achievements on every scale. Bravo is an after-the-fact discretionary award program, designed to provide recognition for substantial accomplishments to an individual or work group.
The Center for Healthy Living is providing free flu shots by appointment for all benefits-eligible employees, plus spouses/same-sex domestic partners (SSDPs) who are covered on a Purdue medical plan.
ITaP security experts will talk about how to recognize and avoid phishing attempts, including those targeted at Blackboard users, on Sept. 17 at the first Blackboard Users Group meeting of the semester. Faculty and staff are encouraged to register for the Blackboard meeting and for fall users group meetings on other topics, which begin Thursday (Sept. 12).
As an online instructor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, Victoria Walker, clinical assistant professor, follows a few key practices and uses some key technologies to encourage her students to think deeper, interact more and take initiative in their learning.
The Board of Trustees' Physical Facilities Committee will hold a public meeting at 2 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 12) in Stewart Center, Room 326. The agenda is available here. The committee will also meet in executive session at 1 p.m. Thursday prior to the public meeting.
