In the Spotlight
The exploration of Gullah culture is the focus of the fall Cultural Arts Series at the Black Cultural Center. "Gullah Folklore: (Re)Membering Our Pathways through Low Country Legacies" will feature a research tour to the South Carolina and Georgia Sea Islands, the world premiere of a dance project, and speakers, music and other performances.
Students in the BCC's performing arts ensembles will travel to Savannah, Ga., and St. Helena Island, S.C., on Oct. 4-8 to learn about preservation of the Gullah heritage through music, poetry, dance and dramatization of rituals that shape Gullah culture.

This memo from President Mitch Daniels is regarding changes to Purdue's institutional research structure. A search is underway for the newly created position of chief institutional research officer, who will lead the reconfigured Office of Institutional Research, Assessment and Effectiveness. Rab Mukerjea, executive director of strategic planning and assessment, who was overseeing the Office of Institutional Research, will focus on University special projects while working a reduced schedule in advance of planned retirement at the end of June 2015.

AgReliant Genetics and Purdue have created a $1 million endowment fund to support College of Agriculture graduate students conducting research in areas such as plant science, plant breeding and genetics, and soil sciences.

Funds are available to provide grants to students or student organizations for work on community service learning projects. The office of Engagement adminsters the program.
Children ages 3-18 with physical, cognitive and emotional disabilities can participate in PETE's PALS, a seven-week Purdue physical activity and aquatics program that begins in October.
