Faculty and staff news
An introduction to the Qualtrics online survey tool and Blackboard Learn topics, including content creation and grade center features, will be covered in faculty workshops and demonstrations by ITaP educational technologists June 10 and 11. Faculty can register by browsing the ITaP training calendar.
The Accomplished Clerical Excellence program will be accepting applications throughout June for those interested in enhancing clerical knowledge, skills and abilities.
The annual retirement recognition luncheon will be held on June 27 for Purdue employees. The luncheon will honor employees who retired July 1, 2012, through June 30, 2013.
"Thumbs Up" gives faculty and staff the chance to recognize others on campus for a job well done.

Thomas Hertel, Distinguished Professor of Agricultural Economics, has been chosen to receive the inaugural Purdue University Research and Scholarship Distinction Award.

With an eye toward improving student success, Purdue's orientation programs soon will include enhanced tools to prepare incoming students for academic life as well as to engage parents in the transition process.
Students in Purdue's counseling psychology doctoral program within the Department of Educational Studies will offer a career assessment service this fall to the high school children of Purdue faculty and staff and to local high schoolers.
The West Lafayette campus is home to about 8,000 trees of more than 350 different varieties. The arborists in the Grounds Department use a carefully developed tree care plan to guide the management of trees on campus.
IDG's Computerworld Honors Program has named the George E. Brown, Jr. Network for Earthquake Engineering Simulation Network (NEES) as a 2013 Laureate.

Purdue student-athletes accounted for 62 of the honorees named Wednesday (May 29) to the 2013 Spring Academic All-Big Ten Team.
All-American track athlete Jakob Engel and third-team All-Big Ten guard Courtney Moses were named among 24 student-athletes honored by the Big Ten Conference as Outstanding Sportsmanship Award winners.
The 2013 Purdue volleyball slate features 16 matches on the friendly home boards of Belin Court as well as 10 contests against NCAA Tournament teams from a year ago, including six that advanced to the Sweet 16 or further.
