Mary Jane Eisenhauer's love of teaching young children, exploring ways to help them learn and mentoring new teachers made her the perfect person to help start Purdue North Central's four-year early child education program.
Eisenhauer, assistant professor of early childhood education, started the program along with her colleagues in the campus' Education Department in fall 2008. In May 2012, the program graduated four students. Eighty-seven students are enrolled in the program now.

President Mitch Daniels, in a letter released Monday (March 18),
has outlined some steps toward saving $40 million in the next two years in
view of the announced tuition freeze, reiterating the importance of
affordability. He also recommended some questions for employees,
departments and offices to be asking about their own expenditures.

The Office of the Vice President for Research is launching an internal funding program intended to help investigators cover funding gaps in this time of uncertainty with external sponsored programs support.
Purdue's Retirement Plan Committee regularly reviews the investment funds offered in Purdue's retirement plan lineup to assure that the funds are performing up to plan standards.
The Administrative and Professional Staff Advisory Committee is now accepting nominations for the third annual APSAC Excellence Award, to recognize A/P staff who consistently perform at an outstanding level.
Murphy Awards
Peter Hollenbeck, professor of biological sciences, has been named one of the recipients of the 2013 Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Awards in Memory of Charles B. Murphy. Hollenbeck received word about the award Monday (March 18) in Lilly Hall. Purdue will continue to announce Murphy Award winners throughout the week.

The 21st-ranked Purdue women's basketball team learned its draw for the 2013 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship on Monday night, garnering a No. 4 seed in the Oklahoma City Regional. The Boilermakers earned the Big Ten's automatic bid by winning a second-straight Big Ten Tournament title and a conference-best ninth overall with a 62-47 victory against Michigan State on March 10 in Hoffman Estates, Ill.
The 91st annual men's basketball banquet will be held at 6:30 p.m. April 10 at Mackey Arena, and the 27th annual women's basketball banquet is set for 12:30 p.m. April 14 at the Four Points by Sheraton hotel.
To maximize the number of innings played in sunlight as temperatures throughout the Midwest remain unseasonably low,Purdue baseball's home opener and Alexander Field debut game today (March 19) has been moved up to a 4 p.m. first pitch.
