Ian Kaplan, assistant professor of entomology, might study some small creatures, but his work recently has taken him to a big stage. In July, Kaplan was one of 96 U.S. researchers who received a Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE) in Washington, D.C. The award, which is the highest governmental honor bestowed on early-career scientists and engineers, recognized Kaplan's research into ecological approaches to pest management.
Faculty and staff news
The national legislation passed in the early hours of New Year's Day changed tax regulations and thus affected employees' personal income taxes and paychecks. Changes include general income tax rates and Social Security and Medicare tax rates and withholding rates.
To correspond with an increase to the mileage rate allowed by the Internal Revenue Service, Purdue has adopted the mileage rate of 56.5 cents per mile for privately owned vehicles used for University business travel on or after Jan. 1.
To make riding more convenient for faculty, staff, students and visitors at Purdue, CityBus has made changes to multiple routes.
The Printing Services department within Physical Facilities will host a United States Postal Service (USPS) mail seminar for the University's faculty and staff Thursday (Jan. 10).
