Alternative Transportation Expo to expand horizons

An innovative outdoor display of green vehicles will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. today (Sept. 28) on and around the Purdue and Stadium malls at the third annual Purdue Green Week Alternative Transportation Expo. The expo will serve also as a venue for the presentation of student and faculty projects addressing sustainability in transportation. Read more...

Votes still can support Purdue's Solar Decathlon house

Votes for Purdue are encouraged for the People's Choice Award in the 19-team Solar Decathlon collegiate housing competition taking place in Washington, D.C. Purdue has forged into first place in the overall contest but needs a boost from third place to reach the top in the people's vote. To vote, go to www.solardecathlon.gov and click the Vote button toward the right. On the next screen, scroll to "INhome (Purdue University)" and select it, then submit vote. Voting ends at 7 p.m. Friday (Sept. 30). One vote per email address. Purdue's College of Technology is posting a blog about the Solar Decathlon at https://blog.tech.purdue.edu/techpurdue/category/solar-decathlon.

* China-U.S. 2011 Joint Symposium. Public keynote lectures 8 a.m.-noon in Stewart Center, Fowler Hall. Read more...

* "History, Public Opinion and Environment" will be presented by John L. Larson, professor and assistant head of history, and Jeong-Nam Kim, assistant professor of communication, 10-11:15 a.m. in Stewart Center, Room 218AB.

* Alternative Transportation Expo, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on Purdue Mall and Stadium Mall.

* Smart Car Test Drives will be available 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on Stadium Mall near Johnson Hall. Sign up for a time to test drive by calling 49-45693.

* Free bicycle tune-ups, registration and safety information will be offered by Purdue Cycling Club and Purdue police 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on Purdue Mall and Stadium Mall.

The year's first President's Forum will be held 9-10:30 a.m. today (Sept. 28) in the South Ballroom of Purdue Memorial Union. The forum will focus on goals for the coming year, with special emphasis on the Decadal Funding Plan. Student Systems to have maintenance Oct. 7-10

University Student Systems will be unavailable due to scheduled maintenance from 5 p.m. Oct. 7 to noon Oct. 10. This includes myPurdue, Banner Self-Service, UniTime (and Internet Native Banner used by staff), the TouchnetPayment portal and "Course Signals." Blackboard and other course management systems will be unaffected. "Course Signals" is scheduled to return to service at 8 a.m. Oct. 10.

Storage upgrade to mean faster, more reliable data access for Purdue researchers

An October upgrade of the data storage system used by many Purdue researchers will provide faculty and their students quicker, more robust and more secure access to their data. ITaP and the Rosen Center for Advanced Computing are upgrading the archival storage system Fortress to the new, more powerful High Performance Storage System (HPSS). Read more...

The Purdue Academic Advising Association (PACADA) is requesting nominations for its annual Outstanding Advisor and Outstanding New Professonal awards. Nomination guidelines and materials are available on the PACADA website. All nominations are due by 5 p.m. Nov. 22 to Karen Hickman at hickman@purdue.edu.
