Penny Wars raises more than $4,000 for United Way

The Residence Hall Association, the student governing body of University Residences, has helped the Purdue United Way Campaign come closer to its goal.

The RHA raised more than $4,000 for the campaign through its annual Penny Wars competition in late October. More

Purdue receives grant to help students learn about climate change

Purdue researchers will investigate how middle and high school students learn about global warming and climate change, thanks to a grant from the National Science Foundation.

The four-year, $1.5 million grant is for a project titled "Making Sense of Global Warming and Climate Change: Model of Student Learning via Collaborative Research." More

Research suggests U.S. motorists are growing increasingly cynical about the relevance of speed limits, and a new study indicates many motorists are more likely to think they can drive safely while speeding as long as they won't get caught. More

Purdue project for FEMA producing a flood of flood data

The spread of flooding
Purdue researchers have produced computerized analyses of 100-year flood plains in more than 800 U.S. counties as part of a sophisticated geographic information system being assembled by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

The system could help identify areas in danger of flooding and be a useful tool in mitigation and recovery efforts. It is the first national-scale project to do standardized comprehensive damage estimates for 100-year floods. More
