Purdue police arrest employee in connection with thefts

Purdue police on Monday (Dec. 3) arrested Alisa R. McQuay, 44, of 1410 Center St., Lafayette, on an initial theft charge after approximately $135 was stolen from a student organization's cash box in the Physics Building lounge. McQuay, a building services employee, was taken to the Tippecanoe County Jail and was later released on a $5,000 surety bond. More

Funeral Friday for Andrew T. Jackson, Purdue student and hockey player

The funeral for Purdue Hockey Club player Andrew T. Jackson will be at 2 p.m. Friday (Dec. 7) at St. Hubert Catholic Community Church in Clanhassen, Minn.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday (Dec. 6) at Huber Funeral Homes in Eden Prairie, Minn. More

Students' study finds traditional video holds slight educational edge over handheld devices

While iPods and other handheld devices are a popular way to enjoy music and videos, children may retain more information by viewing educational DVDs on a television instead.

As part of a service-learning project within a senior capstone course, a group of Purdue students in the Department of Computer Graphics Technology set out to see how newer technology compared to traditional videos as a learning tool. The Purdue group conducted its study using 57 students in three third-grade classes at Columbia Elementary School in Logansport, Ind. More

Purdue jazz bands to contribute to holiday cheer with concert

Purdue's three jazz bands will present "Holiday Cheer & All That Jazz" at 8 p.m. on Friday (Dec. 7) in Loeb Playhouse.

The free concert will include jazz versions of seasonal standards including "I'll Be Home For Christmas," "Sleigh Ride," "Here Comes Santa Claus," "Hanukah Swings" and "Jingle Bells." The Purdue Jazz Band, American Music Repertory Ensemble and Lab Jazz Band will perform. More
