Purdue celebrates success of fundraising for addition to aviation technology building

Purdue on Wednesday (Oct. 24) will celebrate the success of fundraising on a $6.6 million project to construct a 18,200-square-foot building addition that will provide a larger, modern learning facility for future pilots, airline managers, aeronautical technologists and others pursuing careers in the aviation industry.

The celebration for the addition to the Niswonger Aviation Technology Building will take place at 11 a.m. at the building's future site, which is next to the existing aviation technology building at the Purdue University Airport. More

Private-sector fundraising brings in $394 million for Purdue

Purdue announced Tuesday (Oct. 23) that private fundraising and non-government sponsored research and programs brought in nearly $394 million in the recently concluded fiscal year. Of that amount, gifts to the university reached a record $320 million, making this the second time in Purdue history that net gift activity has surpassed the $300 million mark. More

Purdue Band to create giant Block P for Homecoming

A record-setting number of band alumni are expected to return for Purdue's Homecoming this Saturday (Oct. 27) to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Block P and to form the world's largest Block P on the Ross-Ade gridiron at halftime of the Northwestern game.

Director of Bands Jay Gephart said the 500 signed up marks one of the largest turnouts ever for Alumni Band, which is held every two years. More than 50 of those returning are alumni from the era of director Paul Spotts Emrick, who led the band from 1905-54. More

A Purdue University chef says a little extra planning can go a long way toward preparing holiday meals that are healthier and still taste special. More

Purdue warns of buying possibly stolen Christmas Show tickets

Fifty-seven tickets to the Purdue Christmas Show ended up in the wrong hands in a possible case of theft from a mailbox.

Carolanne Robinson, guest relations manager for Purdue's Elliott Hall of Music, said the university's box office received two telephone calls Thursday (Oct. 18) from people who were offered discount tickets from juveniles. One of the callers had two tickets that they brought to the box office. More

Six Purdue students will travel to Reno, Nev., from Nov. 12-15 to show off their high-performance computing skills and compete against undergraduate teams from around the world at the inaugural Cluster Challenge. More

Students to network with professionals in a speed-dating format

Purdue students on Thursday (Oct. 25) will receive career advice from professionals in a speed-dating format.

High Speed Networking is 6-7:30 p.m. in Stewart Center, Room 218AB. Students will have two to three minutes with each alumnus, then will have a chance to mingle afterward in a reception setting with refreshments. Students from any college are welcome to participate in the advice session. More
