Students network with professionals in a speed-dating format

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue University students on Thursday (Oct. 25) will receive career advice from professionals in a speed-dating format.

High Speed Networking is 6-7:30 p.m. in Stewart Center, Room 218AB. Students will have two to three minutes with each alumnus, then will have a chance to mingle afterward in a reception setting with refreshments. Students from any college are welcome to participate in the advice session.

"This non-traditional format will be an exciting, interactive and a different way for many students to meet a lot of alumni," said Chris Sharp, director of alumni relations and special events for the College of Liberal Arts. "In a typical networking situation, there may be times students wait in lines to speak with an alum or cannot find the person in a large reception setting. We also hope this format reinforces the importance of first impressions for the students."

The event is sponsored by the College of Liberal Arts and is part of Experience Liberal Arts month, which features a variety of lectures, films, performances, events and exhibits that reflect the college's ongoing coursework and research in the arts, humanities, and social and behavioral sciences. Information about the upcoming events is available online at https://www.cla.purdue.edu/experience  or by calling (765) 494-7884 to request a program guide.
