Reminders/hints:
- When making a mathematical cut across a structural component such as OD, you expose up to three components of a resultant forces and three components of a resultant couple.
- For the moment equilibrium equations for 3D problems such as this one, it is recommended that you calculate the moments about a point using a cross product. For example, if you want to find the moment about point C due to a force FB acting at point B you should use: MC = rB/C x FB.
- For Part 4, use Newton’s 3rd law to transfer the reactions on the FBD to the positive x-surface of section OC.
