Workshop Description

This workshop brings together roboticists, technologists, medical professionals, and government strategists to explore lessons learned in recent deployments in response to the outbreak of COVID-19 and to provide a blueprint for the assistance and protection of essential employees in future pandemics. The topics of discussion include,

Remote operation of robots in healthcare/retail/logistics applications can be accomplished through teleoperation or autonomous control. However, large scale applicability of these assistive robots is challenging with respect to continuous operations, reliability, and risk/welfare for humans in comparison to the costs. Therefore, in this workshop, we aim to offer a forum to discuss the recent advances of healthcare robots for "no-touch care" during pandemics, as well as to discuss the opportunities and critical challenges in this field.

The event will be held virtually via Zoom.
