Meet our Director

Prof. Sandra S. Liu, PhD, MBA, MS in Preventive Medicine

Sandra S. Liu joined Purdue University as a faculty member in 2001 and is currently Professor in Department of Public Health and Director of Center for Global Urban Sustainability. After attaining her Ph.D. in Higher Education Policy from University of London, Sandra continued her post-doctoral training of planning and managing EMBA programs at the Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University. She also has a MBA from Pepperdine University, MS in both Preventive Medicine and Pharmacology from the Ohio State University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy from Taipei Medical University (Taiwan). Prior to becoming an academic in 1990, Dr. Liu had worked extensively in the healthcare sector, including Ohio Department of Health, Bristol Myers (Taiwan) Ltd., and Allergan Inc. with responsibilities ranging from discovery and clinical research, program planning and monitoring, to global sales and marketing across the United States and Asia Pacific. Dr. Liu remains to be active in consulting and executive training for businesses, hospitals, and public health departments, such as National Oilwell Varco (NOV), Ascension Health, Community HealthNet, Montgomery County Health Department, and Tippecanoe County Health Department in the US; Shanghai Zhenhua Port Machinery Company Limited, Hisun Pharmaceutical Company, China Hospital Association, and Bayer Healthcare in China; and Artal Food Industries Ltd., The Shui Hing Company, Limited, Rosemond International, Peopleware Inc., and 3M in Hong Kong. Dr. Liu was elected Fellow of Hong Kong Marketing Association. She has authored many books, including two that were written with Philip Kotler, the master of marketing, and their Chinese version were published in China. Dr. Liu’s recent projects focuses on performance improvement modeling for health departments and entrepreneurial enterprises; strategic leadership and business modeling for transformational organizations.
