Campus under normal operations for today

The West Lafayette campus is open under normal operations today (Feb. 2). Purdue administrators and public safety officials are working with city and county personnel to actively monitor the winter storm expected for later today and Thursday and ask everyone to remain aware of changing conditions. Any change to campus operating status will be communicated via email, social media and area media.

Purdue is celebrating Black excellence with stories about the giant leaps made by Purdue’s outstanding Black students, alumni, faculty and staff. We honor the individuals from our Boilermaker history who have made significant impact on our University, and those who are continuing to do so with their bold, life-changing contributions. As part of Black History Month, and beyond, we celebrate those who helped make Purdue University the outstanding institution of higher learning it is today.

50th episode of 'This Is Purdue' to celebrate Black Boilermakers’ excellence

Thursday (Feb. 3) will mark the 50th episode of “This Is Purdue” podcast. Listen in as the podcast celebrates Black Boilermakers' excellence with stories from three Purdue alumni who have made significant giant leaps: Amber Johnson (PhD 2019, computer science), Sydney Simone (BA 2019, communication) and Curtis Baylor (BSIE 1972). Project produces first-of-its-kind estimate of total number of tree species

One person can’t measure all the trees in the world, but when many people come together, a global view becomes possible. A worldwide collaboration of scientists has produced the first ground-sourced data estimate of the total number of tree species on Earth and found that more than 9,000 species have yet to be discovered. Jingjing Liang, a professor in the Department of Forestry and Natural Resources, is co-leading the project.
