Provost’s Conversation to discuss progress of Transformative Education 2.0

Jay Akridge, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs and diversity, is hosting a second campuswide conversation about Transformative Education 2.0, one of Purdue’s Next Moves. The virtual conversation is scheduled for 1:30-2:30 p.m. ET Thursday (Oct. 7). All faculty, staff and students are encouraged to participate in the conversation by visiting the Transformative Education 2.0 website to submit questions ahead of time for the panel to address and to join the livestream event.

Purdue welcomed alumni and friends back to campus for Homecoming 2021, themed “Giant Leaps Home.” Activities included the Purdue Homecoming Parade, Boilermaker Boulevard on Stadium Mall, "Thrill on the Hill" with the Purdue “All-American” Marching Band, and Purdue football's game against Minnesota.

Persistence in pursuit of excellence leads to Astronaut Scholarships

For three ambitious students, hard work and persistence are paying off in big ways. Not only have they been rewarded for their research and academic achievements, they are also now a part of a prestigious group of innovators and industry pioneers. Seniors Joseph Kirchhoff, John Putziger and Abigail Sipes are recipients of the 2021 Astronaut Scholarship.

Purdue Foundry creates new entrepreneurial programming

Up to 10 teams of entrepreneurs will develop relationships with industry mentors and receive business-building guidance, and could earn up to $30,000 apiece through a new Purdue Foundry program called Boost. Teams will participate in 10 weeks of programming, including consultations with entrepreneurs-in-residence, mentors and industry professionals.

Purdue University, known as the “Cradle of Astronauts,” established a new partnership with the U.S. Space Force on Wednesday (Sept. 29) to use university research, innovation and talent development as the latest member of the Space Force’s University Partnership Program.
