Faculty and Staff NewsPurdue to activate the all-hazards outdoor sirens, conduct evacuation drills during BGRPurdue will conduct evacuation drills and test its all-hazards outdoor emergency warning sirens this week during Boiler Gold Rush, the orientation program for new students. New students will be evacuated from Elliott Hall of Music during each of two sessions -- at approximately 10 a.m. and noon Friday (Aug. 17). The University's seven sirens, placed strategically around campus, are scheduled to be activated at 4:30 p.m. Friday. Transistor technology may improve speed, battery life for computers, mobile phones and other electronicsPurdue researchers have developed transistor technology that shows potential for improving computers and mobile phones. The researchers created a new technology design for field effect transistors, which are basic switching devices in computers and other electronic devices. Those types of transistors also are promising candidates for next-generation nanodevices.
