Purdue to activate the all-hazards outdoor sirens, conduct evacuation drills during BGR

Purdue will conduct evacuation drills and test its all-hazards outdoor emergency warning sirens this week during Boiler Gold Rush, the orientation program for new students. New students will be evacuated from Elliott Hall of Music during each of two sessions -- at approximately 10 a.m. and noon Friday (Aug. 17). The University's seven sirens, placed strategically around campus, are scheduled to be activated at 4:30 p.m. Friday.

The researchers created a new technology design for field effect transistors, which are basic switching devices in computers and other electronic devices. Those types of transistors also are promising candidates for next-generation nanodevices.
