Armstrong, Carlson receive Murphy Awards

Dorsey Armstrong, professor in the Department of English, and Erica Carlson, professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, have been named recipients of the 2017 Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award in Memory of Charles B. Murphy. Armstrong and Carlson were surprised with the news on Wednesday (March 22).

Making Greater Lafayette greater: Honors course tackles challenges, connects communities

While Purdue students emerge after graduation as experts on their campus community, many have little knowledge about the areas surrounding their university. In many ways, it's understandable. Student schedules are jam-packed, most lack transportation and some feel they're just passing through. But what if a class could change that mindset? Could an education about community improve that community? Professor Ilana Stonebraker argues yes, and she devised an Honors College course, HONR 299: Making Greater Lafayette Greater, around those themes.
