State Street traffic plan updated; information meetings set for March 23

Construction for the State Street Redevelopment Project will begin in earnest on April 3 with work taking place this year from the Wabash River through Purdue's campus to U.S. 231. The preliminary vehicular traffic plan that was released in December has been updated, and the new plan is now available at www.statestreetwl.com. The public is invited to attend one of two informational meetings on March 23.

Estimates of emissions from natural gas-fueled plants much too low, study finds

Power plants that burn natural gas produce significantly less pollutants and greenhouse gases than coal-burning plants, according to current estimates of how much methane escapes from such power plants, as well as from oil refineries, and estimates could be off by a wide margin, a new Purdue study finds. Purdue researchers flew an airborne chemistry laboratory (above) over natural gas-fueled power plants and refineries to measure greenhouse gases.
