The latest edition of the Dimensions of Discovery research newsletter is now available online. The quarterly newsletter from the Office of the Executive Vice President for Research and Partnerships highlights Purdue faculty accomplishments and provides relevant research announcements and regulatory information to Purdue faculty and staff.

HandiMate robot kit

HandiMate robot system gets kids thinking like engineers

Researchers in Purdue's C Design Lab have created HandiMate, a DIY robot kit that allows children to design and build custom robots out of everyday materials that they control wirelessly through hand gestures. Expanding the College of Engineering, one of the 10 Purdue Moves initiatives, includes a commitment to getting kids interested in math and science from an early age. In this video, children demonstrate the HandiMate system, designed to help them think like engineers.
