Purdue chemistry professor and Nobel laureate Ei-ichi Negishi has been elected into the National Academy of Sciences, one of the highest honors given to a scientist or engineer in the United States.
Shihuan Kuang, associate professor of animal sciences, will receive Purdue's 2014 Agricultural Research Award for his work in stem cell biology and the regulation of muscle and adipose tissues.
Ashlae Nelms, a Purdue sophomore and member of the Purduettes, will compete today (May 1) during the finals of the fifth biennial Voice of McDonald's global singing competition.

Members of the Hoosier Heartland Highway Industrial Coalition met with President Mitch Daniels on campus Wednesday (April 30) to thank him for his efforts with the project. The Hoosier Heartland project, which replaced State Road 25 with a new four-lane, limited-access highway connecting Lafayette to Fort Wayne, was funded through then-Gov. Daniels' Major Moves program. Purdue sports
The Purdue women's tennis team earned its third straight NCAA Championships appearance as one of 32 teams to receive an at-large bid into the 64-team field. No. 41 Purdue will take on No. 20 Georgia Tech in the first round on May 9.
The Purdue men's tennis team has received one of 33 at-large bids into the 64-team field for the NCAA Championships. The 34th-ranked Boilermakers will face No. 16 Clemson in the first round on May 9.
