America Saves

America Saves Week encourages employees to consider personal savings

Today (Feb. 24) through March 1, employees are encouraged to participate in America Saves Week, which provides guidance on the hows and whys of saving money. This week is an ideal time for employees to think about their personal savings plan and consider participating in the 1% Savings Challenge, an initiative aimed at helping people understand the impact made by small adjustments in retirement savings.

Nominations invited for Entrepreneurial Leadership Academy

The Burton D. Morgan Center for Entrepreneurship in Discovery Park is announcing the 2014-15 nomination period for the Entrepreneurial Leadership Academy through April 18. The academy is a professional development program aimed at mid-career or senior faculty. Though commercialization interests are encouraged, faculty do not need to have a technology to commercialize to participate. More information is in this memo.

Safety Chair Meeting, safety fair set for March 5

Purdue's Radiological and Environmental Management (REM) department will hold its annual Safety Chair Meeting from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. March 5 in Stewart Center, Room 214. Registration is due by Wednesday (Feb. 26).

Purdue is recruiting high-tech startup and second-stage companies to participate in the Interns for Indiana program.

Hurt: Expansion of beef cattle herds possibly on the horizon

Recent record-high cattle prices and lower feed costs could offer producers the profit incentives they need to start expanding their herds after U.S. beef cattle numbers at the start of this year reached their lowest point since 1951, Purdue Extension agricultural economist Chris Hurt says.

Matthews, Soldati win awards as Big Tens conclude

At the Big Ten Championships for women's swimming and diving, Purdue's Casey Matthews was recognized as the co-Diver of the Championships and first-team All-Big Ten after winning the Big Ten title from the 1-meter springboard Thursday and finishing second in the 3-meter competition Friday. Adam Soldati was named the Big Ten Diving Coach of the Year, garnering the honor for the second time for his work with the Purdue women.
