In the Spotlight
It's never too early for students to start planning to enroll in summer classes. That's the idea behind "Think Summer Sooner," a marketing campaign coupled with a host of new University offerings that encourage students to prepare months or years ahead to take summer classes. The updated initiative, which launched last week, is a sub-campaign of "Think Summer."
"Think Summer" is an ongoing initiative to highlight the benefits of studying at Purdue during the summer.
Faculty and staff news
Faculty and staff may enroll in 2014 benefits beginning today (Oct. 28) and ending at 6 p.m. (ET) Nov. 15. New medical plan options and significant changes in medical premiums make it important for everyone to consider their options carefully for next year and enroll by the deadline.
All benefits-eligible employees who do not take advantage of their opportunity to choose a 2014 medical plan or to opt out of Purdue medical coverage for next year by 6 p.m. (ET) Nov. 15 will be automatically enrolled in 2014's highest-deductible medical plan, the Purdue Health Plan Plus HSA 2. The automatic enrollment extends even to those who are currently opted out of Purdue medical insurance.
Today's benefit enrollment events
Today (Oct. 28), a walk-in lab will be held 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. in Freehafer Hall, Room 1-5. For a schedule of live sessions and additional help during benefits open enrollment, visit www.purdue.edu/benefits/enroll.html. Open enrollment ends at 6 p.m. (ET) Nov. 15.
The University Senate endorsed a policy that addresses clinical and professional faculty appointment and promotion during its meeting Oct. 21. It also heard presentations about Purdue Research Park and the Student Intellectual Growth Task Force.
Daylight saving time ends at 2 a.m. Sunday (Nov. 3), meaning campus clocks will have to "fall back" this weekend.
"Thumbs Up" gives faculty and staff the chance to recognize others on campus for a job well done.
* Purdue Today would like to hear about those people whose hard work and commitment contribute to the success of the University as well as make Purdue a wonderful environment within which to work. To submit an item for "Thumbs Up," click here.
