President's Forum

Forum highlights drug discovery, plant sciences initiatives

Thursday's President's Forum focused on 10 targeted programs designed to enhance research and educational opportunities for students and broaden Purdue's global impact. The forum featured opening remarks by President Mitch Daniels and presentations on two of the initiatives -- drug discovery and plant sciences.

Panelists were Timothy Ratliff, professor and the Robert Wallace Miller Director of the Purdue University Center for Cancer Research; Philip Low, the Ralph C. Corley Distinguished Professor of Chemistry and inaugural director of the Purdue Center for Drug Discovery; Karen Plaut, senior associate dean for research and faculty affairs in the College of Agriculture; and Jay Akridge, the Glenn W. Sample Dean of Agriculture.

Purdue to accelerate drug discovery, development

Adding to Purdue's strengths in drug discovery and the capacity to translate basic research into life-changing treatments, spearheaded by the Center for Drug Discovery, is among a series of initiatives being targeted by the University.

Purdue's College of Agriculture will receive more than $20 million in University funding for plant sciences research and education to strengthen Purdue's leadership in developing new and novel ways to help feed a rapidly growing world population.

Trustees advance new learning center, renovations for College of Engineering strategic growth, IPFW buildings

Purdue's Board of Trustees Physical Facilities Committee on Thursday (Sept. 12) approved planning and construction of the Active Learning Center, a 162,000-square-foot structure at the site of the aged Engineering Administration Building and the vacant heating and power north building at the heart of campus.

Self-identification audit set to begin

The Office of Institutional Equity and Human Resources are preparing for the annual affirmative action plan. A part of this preparation is an audit of self-identification data for all employees.

Training and training resources announced for Procurement's coming Ariba P2P launch

The buildup to the Oct. 14 launch of the new Ariba P2P procurement system -- a major step in the Procurement Process Transformation -- has reached the stage of full-scale training via both instructor-led training and computer-based resources.

Purdue's DiaGrid hub makes high-level research software easier to use, yields results faster

Purdue researchers are getting results from the thousands of processors and the high-level research software available to faculty and their students through Purdue's DiaGrid hub. ITaP staff will host a DiaGrid informational seminar from 1 to 2 p.m. Sept. 24 in Stewart Center, Room 311.
