Poetry reading with Ellen Bryant Voigt

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The 2013-2014 Purdue University Literary Reading Series presents poet Ellen Bryant Voigt at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 24 in Krannert Auditorium, Room 140.

This event, sponsored by the Department of English and the Creative Writing Program, is free and open to the public.

Voigt has written several collections of poetry, including "Headwaters: Poems;" "Messenger: New and Selected Poems 1976-2006;" "Shadow of Heaven," which was a finalist for the National Book Award; "Kyrie," a finalist for the National Book Critic's Circle Award; "Two Trees;" "The Lotus Flowers;" "The Forces of Plenty;" and "Claiming Kin."

Her honors include the 2002 Fellowship from the Academy of American Poets, the 2002 O. B. Hardison, Jr. Poetry Prize, grants from the Vermont Council on the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Guggenheim Foundation, as well as a Lila Wallace-Reader's Digest Fund fellowship and a Pushcart Prize.
