David Williams

Student affordability a top concern for Senate chair

As 2013-14 chair of the University Senate, David Williams plans to champion policies that will help establish Purdue as a national leader in affordable, excellent higher education. Williams, professor of medical illustration in the College of Veterinary Medicine, has been at Purdue for more than 40 years and is a longtime Senate member.

President to discuss initiatives at forum on Thursday

The Purdue community is invited to join President Mitch Daniels for a President's Forum on Thursday (Sept. 12) in the South Ballroom, Purdue Memorial Union. The forum, scheduled for 8-9:30 a.m., will focus on Purdue's new agenda -- initiatives developed from across the University that are designed to place Purdue among the great academic institutions of the world.

Newly hired non-exempt staff to participate in new retirement plan

New clerical, service and operations/technical employees hired on or after Sept. 9 will be enrolled in a new Non-Exempt Defined Contribution Plan to be administered by Fidelity.

Still time to complete approved tobacco cessation program to avoid 2014 additional medical premium

The $500 per person tobacco-user additional premium will continue for 2014 Purdue medical plans. The additional premium applies to employees and covered spouses/same-sex domestic partners (SSDPs). If both people in the couple use tobacco and are covered by the plan, the additional premium will be $1,000.

Rec Sports to host United Way fundraiser

The Division of Recreational Sports is hosting a Zumbathon on Sept. 19 to benefit the Purdue United Way Campaign.
