Did You Know?: Loeb Fountain

Loeb Fountain, the iconic landmark at the center of Founders Park, originally sat in front of Hovde Hall, where it served as the centerpiece of central campus. Prominent local residents Bert and June Loeb donated the original funds to build the fountain. It was completed in 1959 in honor of Solomon Loeb, who was Bert's father and owned Loeb's Department Store in Lafayette.

Nominations sought for Book of Great Teachers

Nominations are being accepted for Purdue's Book of Great Teachers, which honors outstanding teaching faculty who have demonstrated sustained excellence in the classroom. The deadline for nominations is Aug. 30.

New Scholar cluster brings supercomputing to Purdue classrooms

One of the world's most powerful supercomputers is now available to give Purdue students in undergraduate courses experience with high-performance computing. The Scholar cluster is open to instructors from any field whose classes include assignments that could make use of supercomputing.

Luncheon to focus on ability of Conte supercomputer to accelerate, enhance research

Purdue's new Conte community cluster supercomputer, which can speed up and enhance research results, will be the focus of an informational luncheon for faculty, staff and graduate students set for 12:15-1:30 p.m. Aug. 28 in Lawson Computer Science Building, Room 1142. Lunch will be available at no charge to participants.

Assistive wheelchair tray could help people with disabilities use iPads, other mobile devices more easily

"RoboDesk," a motorized wheelchair tray, could provide people with disabilities with an efficient and easy-to-use method to more easily position and remove an iPad or other mobile devices without being limited by a table or moving in and out of the chair.

'One Brick Higher' offers behind-the-scenes look at Purdue football

Purdue Athletics announced Wednesday (Aug. 14) the debut of the "One Brick Higher" video series. The inaugural episode takes a behind-the-scenes look at the start of training camp for the football team, introduces the "A Players Manual" and reveals why first-year head coach Darrell Hazell chose "One Brick Higher" as the theme for the 2013 Boilermakers. BTN set to air two Purdue volleyball home matches

The No. 16 Boilermaker volleyball team is slated to make two television appearances in 2013. The Big Ten Network will air the team's Oct. 12 match vs. Northwestern and the Oct. 22 contest vs. Indiana.
