Purdue gears up for launch of 2009 United Way Campaign

Purdue will kick off its 2009 United Way campaign on Sept. 15 with plans to build on the success of previous campaigns and to raise at least $730,000 for area service agencies.

Campaign chair Dennis Depew, dean of the College of Technology, says Purdue's theme this year, "United starts with U," is appropriate for the University and the community.

"Purdue faculty and staff have been very generous over the years and have continually helped improve the lives of many people in our community," he says. "Whether as volunteers in the agencies or as a giver to the annual campaign, Purdue's contribution is very important to the community United Way campaign." More

Flier on hand hygiene, coughing etiquette available for posting

Fliers detailing hand hygiene and coughing etiquette have been distributed to building deputies to post as part of campus-wide education efforts related to H1N1 type A influenza. Faculty and staff may download the flier here to post in bathrooms or for other distribution.

The National Geographic Channel recently aired a documentary on the controversy surrounding the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks called “9/11: Science and Conspiracy,” which included a scientific visualization of the attack created by Purdue researchers.
