Lilly Endowment awards $5.8 million for Purdue program to help Indiana colleges serve student veterans

A $5.8 million gift from Lilly Endowment Inc. will help launch a Purdue-based program that will assist higher education institutions across Indiana in helping students who are either entering college for the first time or re-entering after time spent away in the military. More

Purdue Today schedule for spring break

Purdue Today will reduce its publishing schedule during spring break. It will be published Monday, March 16, and Thursday, March 19. Purdue Today will resume daily publication on March 23.

'Peking Man' older than thought; somehow adapted to cold

A new dating method has found that "Peking Man" is around 200,000 years older than previously thought, suggesting he somehow adapted to the cold of a mild glacial period. A dating method developed by a Purdue researcher allowed a more accurate determination of the age of the Zhoukoudian, China, site of remains of Homo erectus, commonly known as "Peking Man." The site was found to be 680,000-780,000 years old. Earlier estimates put the age at 230,000-500,000 years old. More

Purdue Alumni Association to host fan headquarters for Big Ten Tournament

Purdue Alumni Association fan headquarters will be available at Alcatraz Brewing Co., 49 W. Maryland St, Suite 104, in Indianapolis during Purdue's games today through Sunday (March 13-15) in the 2009 Big Ten Men's Basketball Tournament. A pep rally will be held at 5:30 p.m. today and feature the Boiler Brass and cheer squad. More information is available at www.purduealumni.org/basketball.
