The Engineering Honors Learning Community is designed for first-year engineering students participating in the Honors College. This year-long experience will allow you to live, study, and interact with a small group of fellow honors students. As a member of this community, you will have the opportunity to apply your classroom learning to out-of-class, co-curricular activities and service-learning experiences. You will be encouraged to develop study groups with your fellow community members to further increase your collaborative success in the engineering program. Furthemore, you will have the opportunity to become a leader within the Learning Community, enabling you to develop skills that will help you to be successful both in and out of the classroom.

Eligibility

  • First-time beginning students admitted to First-Year Engineering AND participating in the Honors College
  • Must be invited to participate in the Honors College
  • Must accept invitation to participate in the Honors College by May 1st deadline

Residential Component

  • Required in Shreve Hall through the Honors College

  • Rube-Goldberg construction
  • Etiquette dinner
  • Cardboard canoe construction and racing

  • Pumpkin Trebuchets and Catapults
  • Community service project
  • Trip to Museum of Science and Industry
