CALC's Research Development Administrator (RDA)
Frequently Asked Questions

What does the RDA do?

The RDA is here to act as an assistant and support to faculty and graduate students associated with CALC as they compose, submit and manage the necessary documents for funding.

Can the RDA write my pre-award documents?

While PIs are responsible for writing the core parts of their proposals, the RDA can assist in drafting supplementary documents such as budget justification, facilities and other resources, and equipment with the necessary information provided by the PI. The RDA can also work with the PI to draft supporting and consultant letters as well as the data management and sharing plan, and protection of human subjects. Moreover, the RDA can offer sentence-level editing work of the proposal documents, addressing nuances often overlooked during the higher-level editing process.

Can the RDA assist with my post-award management?

The RDA is not granted access to the awarded account; the PI needs to work with the department business officers and post-award administrators in Sponsored Program Services to manage the account. However, the RDA can assist you in preparing post-award reporting documents, including the Research Performance Progress Report (RPPR)

What other services can RDA provide?

The RDA can provide other administrative assistance for grant applications and management. For example, the RDA can gather required information such as biosketches and letters of support from other collaborators.
