Developing and Leading Your Veterinary Team

The VPMP human resources management module, Developing and Leading Your Veterinary Team, helps participants understand concepts they can use to develop strategies and policies to motivate and compensate staff and also to improve communications with peers and clients to enhance productivity and profitability.

Topics such as motivation, decision-making, leadership and group dynamics, management techniques, and negotiation will focus on the interpersonal aspects of the role of the practice owner/manager. Information on personnel selection, retention and compensation will provide guidance in developing effective human resource management systems.

The module will make use of case analyses as well as experience-based exercises to illustrate the issues presented and to develop the human resources management skills of participants.

F. David Schoorman

F. David Schoorman is a professor of organizational behavior and human resource management. His teaching interests include organizational behavior, organizational theory and research methods. His current research interests are organization effectiveness, decision-making, leadership, motivation and management.

His executive education teaching activities include sessions for Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Indiana, Pioneer Hi-Bred International and the Krannert Executive Master's Degree Program.
