Registration open for 2010 Global Game Jam at Purdue

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Registration is open for the Global Game Jam, which will be hosted at the Purdue Center for Serious Games on Jan. 29-31.

The Global Game Jam is a weekend during which those interested in making video games come together, form teams and develop a video game. Participation is free and is open to the public. Basic familiarity with computer coding and graphic design would be helpful but is not required.

Teams will be formed Friday at the start of the event, and team creations will be presented Sunday.

Computers will be available on site for participants to use. Snacks and beverages may be provided, but participants will be responsible for obtaining meals.

The Global Game Jam takes place overnight, and participants also will be responsible for arranging for lodging over the weekend. Those who wish can bring a sleeping bag or pillow to the event.

Registration will be open until the day of the event. To register, or for more information, visit https://www.globalgamejam.org

In order to register, participants must create an account and affiliate with Purdue University Serious Games Center location.

The Global Game Jam brings together individuals in locations around the world in an effort to foster collaboration in electronic game development. In 2009 more than 1,600 participants from 23 countries around the world produced 370 games. Games from last year's event can be viewed on the Web site.
