November 18, 2009 'Remember the Titans' coach to speak at PurdueWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Herman Boone, coach of the 1971 high school football team in Alexandria, Va., that inspired the movie "Remember the Titans," will speak Dec. 8 at Purdue.The presentation, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 7 p.m. at Stewart Center's Loeb Playhouse. There will be a meet-and-greet with Boone immediately following the talk in the West Faculty Lounge of Purdue Memorial Union. Boone is best known for his leadership as a football coach at T.C. Williams High School where he led his newly integrated football team to a state championship. His presentation will focus on respect, teamwork, community involvement and the importance of character. This is the fifth annual Lectureship in Values and Ethics hosted by the Beta Iota Chapter of Delta Gamma Sorority. The lecture is funded through the endowment of Dorothy Garrett Martin Lectureship in Values and Ethics, which was established for Delta Gamma at Purdue.
