Ayers lecture open to Purdue faculty, staff and students

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The inaugural Cummings-Perrucci lecture with William Ayers, presenting on "Inequality and Education: The Challenge for Urban Schools," will be limited to Purdue University faculty, staff and students studying liberal arts, education and child development.

The talk focuses on the role education plays in helping people improve their life situation and is intended for faculty and students who want to know more about Ayers' work with women and minorities. The lecture is funded by a private donation from Purdue sociology professor Carolyn Cummings Perrucci and professor emeritus Robert Perrucci.

The lecture hall seats 100, and priority will be given to those in the areas of sociology, women's studies, African-American studies, education and child development. Any remaining spaces will be offered to students in the areas of anthropology, political science, communication, history, philosophy, psychological sciences, foreign languages and literatures, and English.

Attendees will be required to show a Purdue identification card to gain admission. The organizers and Ayers have asked that no photographs, audio or video recordings be allowed.
