WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - WBAA Radio station at Purdue University is organizing a weeklong trip to Bavaria in August 2010.

The tour, which is open to community members, will include visits to Munich, Nuremburg and Oberammergau in Germany, and Salzburg and Innsbruck in Austria.

Those interested may attend “Dessert and Details,” a free information session at the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette on 101 South 9th Street at 5:30 p.m., Aug. 25.

Greg Kostraba, program director at WBAA and a classical concert pianist with a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in piano performance, will give a customized tour of Salzburg, exploring the birthplace of Mozart and the setting for the 1965 musical, The Sound of Music.

The group also will see the renowned once-a-decade "Passion Play" at the Bavarian village of Oberammergau, which was first performed in 1634.

The weeklong tour costs $3,999 per person. The deadline for reservations is Sept. 30, 2009.

WBAA has been organizing trips abroad since 2004, said Sally Lutes, director of development at WBAA. In the past, community members have been on WBAA trips to Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Austria.
