2 inaugural events to be streamed on Web, another carried by NPR's Tech Nation
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -
Two events taking place leading up to the inauguration of Purdue University President France A. Córdova will be streamed on the Web and simulcast live on two Greater Lafayette-area television channels. Another will be featured on National Public Radio's "Tech Nation."
Also, a satellite broadcast will be available from 2-4 p.m. Friday (April 11) to enable Purdue's regional campuses to watch the inauguration ceremony live.
The Global University Convocation, which will be from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Thursday (April 10), can be seen online at mms://video.dis.purdue.edu/globaluniversity during the program. Shortly afterward, an archived version of the video will be available on the Web at https://www.purdue.edu/inauguration.
Global leaders in education will come together for the event, which will be moderated by Purdue alumnus and C-SPAN President Brian Lamb in Stewart Center's Loeb Playhouse. The convocation, part of the Discovery Lecture Series, is funded in part by the Lilly Endowment Inc.
Córdova's inauguration, which will be 2-4 p.m. Friday (April 11), can be viewed at mms://video.dis.purdue.edu/inauguration during the program. Shortly afterward, an archived version of the video will be available on the Web at https://www.purdue.edu/inauguration.
Delegates from U.S. and international universities, students, faculty and staff will be special guests at the inaugural in Elliott Hall of Music.
The event is free, but a ticket with an assigned seat is required. Doors will open to the public at 12:30 p.m. for the 2 p.m. event. Both events will be simulcast live on Boiler TV, Channel 13 in the channel lineup available to Purdue residence halls, and Channel 5, Purdue's educational access television station on Comcast's Lafayette-West Lafayette-area channel lineup. Information Technology at Purdue's Information Technology Networks and Security/Broadcast Network Services are responsible for the live video streaming and satellite broadcast. NPR's Tech Nation also plans to replay portions of one of three faculty symposia that will take place 10 a.m. Friday morning. The radio show will carry segments of the symposium "Building a New Planet," which will be hosted by Moira Gun, founder and host of Public Radio's "Tech Nation" and "BioTech Nation." Córdova became Purdue's 11th president on July 16. Before arriving at Purdue, she had served as chancellor of University of California, Riverside, since 2002.
