Blood found near pharmacy building reportedly the result of accident

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue University police believe that blood stains found on a sidewalk Friday morning (April 4) near the Heine Pharmacy Building were the result of an accident.

A male student phoned police Monday (April 7) and told them that he had fallen and injured his chin on the sidewalk and lost his glasses, Purdue police Lt. Fred Davis said.

"The attention that the blood stains generated caused the person to come forward and to get his glasses back," Davis said. "He said it was just an accident, and he did not seek medical attention."

A university employee discovered the stains and called police about 7:20 a.m. Friday morning. Three areas of blood were discovered in an area about 90 feet southwest of the building's south doors, along with the pair of glasses.
