Appointments, honors and activities

Appointments and promotions:

— Brenda L. Knebel has been named director of admissions for the master's and executive programs at Krannert School of Management. Knebel has been at Purdue since 1995, when she was director of athletic promotions. She also served previously as manager of marketing and recruitment at Krannert and as OnePurdue subject matter expert. Prior to joining Purdue, she worked at Michigan State University as the assistant to the associate athletics director. She received her bachelor's degree in early childhood education from Purdue in 1988 and her master's degree in college and university administration from Michigan State University in 1990.

 

Faculty and staff honors:

— Richard Borgens, the Mari Hulman George Professor of Applied Neurology in the School of Veterinary Medicine, has been appointed honorary professor at Chongqing University in Chongqing, China. Borgens, who has a joint appointment in the Welden School of Biomedical Engineering, will present graduate seminar lectures several weeks a year and work with graduate student committees. Borgens is the founder of Purdue's Center for Paralysis Research, where he leads teams of researchers to discover treatments for central nervous system injury and disease.

— Monica F. Cox, an assistant professor of engineering education, will be recognized as one of 10 "2008 Emerging Scholars of the Year" by Diverse Issues in Higher Education magazine. Cox and the emerging scholars list will be featured in the magazine's January issue, which highlights top minority scholars around the country.
