Class of 1937 scholarships offered to Purdue undergraduate students

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Current Purdue University undergraduate students are invited to apply for scholarships offered by the Class of 1937 for the 2008-09 academic year.

The number of scholarships will be determined by the interest earned on the Class of 1937 endowment during the past year. An average of 20 scholarships have been awarded each year since 1987-88, with individual scholarship amounts ranging from $250 to $4,000. Each scholarship amount will be split between the fall and spring semesters.

To be eligible for the scholarship, students must be enrolled at the West Lafayette campus; be registered for 12 or more credit hours; be classified as a sophomore, junior or senior during the 2008-09 academic year; have a cumulative 2.0 grade point average; be in good academic and social standing within the university; and show evidence of leadership ability or potential. Applicants should describe their financial need for the scholarship, but they do not need to be eligible for financial assistance through Purdue's Division of Financial Aid.

Applications are available at the Office of the Dean of Students, Schleman Hall, Room 207; Purdue Student Government office, Stewart Center, Room G6; Black Cultural Center, 1100 Third St.; and at https://www.purdue.edu/odos/sao/awards/files/Class%20of%201937%20Scholarships.pdf

Applications must be submitted by Feb. 15 to the Office of the Dean of Students, Schleman Hall, Room 207. Award recipients will be notified by mail by April 11.
