Purdue's Union Club Hotel runs holiday specials

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue University's Union Club Hotel is offering room rate discounts the week after Christmas.

Deluxe rooms will rent for $69.60 per night and a room with a queen bed or two twin beds will rent for $57.60 per night. The special rates, a 40 percent discount, begin Dec. 26 and run through Jan. 2.

"The Purdue Memorial Union is a perfect place for out-of-town guests," said Robert Mindrum, director of Purdue Memorial Union. "The hotel offers comfortable accommodations, and during the holiday break the Union is very tranquil but offers several dining and recreational facilities."

All restaurants and facilities will be closed Saturday (Dec. 22) through Dec. 25 and then again from Dec. 29 through Jan. 1. For the remainder of the week the hotel will be open and several restaurants in the Purdue Memorial Union will keep holiday hours. Pappy's Sweet Shop will be open from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., the new Lemongrass Asian restaurant will be open from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Villa Fresh Italian will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Starbucks will be open 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

 The arcade will be open 7 a.m. to midnight each night except Dec. 28 when it closes at 10 p.m.. The Union Rack and Roll bowling and billiards opens daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. except Dec. 28 when it will close at 10 p.m.

 The front desk of the hotel is open 24 hours a day for guests' convenience beginning at 6 a.m. on Dec. 26.
