Following a rash of burglaries, Purdue police are warning students living in university residence halls to keep their doors locked even when they are sleeping.

Thieves broke into eight rooms in Tarkington Hall and two in Wiley Hall during the early morning hours on Saturday (Dec. 1) while residents were sleeping, said Det. Lt. Fred Davis. Stolen items - valued at almost $18,000 - included 10 laptop computers, six iPods, two wallets and one camera.

Based on a witness description, police have created a composite sketch of one of the suspected burglars. A second suspect was described as a white male, 21-25 years old, about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing about 180 pounds. He had shoulder-length brown hair and was wearing a white coat with a blue stripe.
