Purdue Libraries to extend hours as students prepare for semester finals

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue University Libraries will extend hours at four facilities to help students prepare for their final exams in December.

The John W. Hicks Undergraduate and Siegesmund Engineering libraries will be open around the clock from Dec. 2-15, starting at 11 a.m. December 2. The Management and Economics Library also will be open 24 hours a day from Dec. 9-15, starting at 11 a.m. December 9.

The Humanities, Social Science and Education Library will have extended hours of 7 a.m. to 2 a.m. on Mondays through Fridays and 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays from Dec. 2-13, starting at 11 a.m. December 2.

"Finals week and the time leading up to finals is very stressful to students, and the extended hours can be a great benefit to them," said Marianne Ryan, associate dean for learning for Purdue Libraries. "The libraries not only provide resource materials, but also a place where they can get away from everything else so that they can study."

Purdue Libraries will kick off the extended service by handing out goodie bags at 2 p.m., both on Dec. 3 on the Centennial Mall and Dec. 10 at the main entrance of the Krannert Building. The bags will have water, food, pizza coupons and a token giveaway. The locations with extended hours also will serve free coffee periodically during finals week.
