November 13, 2007 Grain production seminar to show how to add value to your grainWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue University Extension Service and the Gibson County Plot Committee are sponsoring a grain production seminar on Nov. 29 at the Vanderburgh County 4-H center activities building."The seminar is to educate participants on the improvements that they can make on grain production and give them new ideas," said Purdue Extension educator Jim True. The seminar will start at 8 a.m., with registration and a time to visit the exhibitor booths, and will end at 1:15 p.m. There also will be a sign-up for participants who are interested in becoming certified crop advisers. Seminar topics and speakers will include: * 8:30-9 a.m. Qualisoy Soybean - enhanced quality trait opportunities for U.S. farmers. Richard Galloway, president of Galloway and Associates. * 9-10 a.m. Managing grain for quality for long-term storage. Dirk Maier, Purdue Extension agricultural engineer. * 10:20-11:20 a.m. Agronomic production practices for food grain corn hybrids. Bob Nielsen, Purdue Extension corn specialist. * 11:20 a.m. to noon. Global outlook on white corn markets. Brian Harris, vice president for Global Risk Management Group. * 12:45-1:15 p.m. Panel on specialty grains and markets. Doug John of Archer Daniels Midland, Jason Selking of CGB Enterprises Inc. and Molly Stalker of Cargill.
