Purdue announces lineup for 2007 Old Masters program

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Nine leaders in various professions will visit the Purdue University campus Nov. 4-6 to interact with students and talk about how they rose to the top of their fields.

The Old Masters program is sponsored by the Office of the Dean of Students. Since the program's start in 1950, more than 500 Old Masters have participated.

"The Old Masters program offers students an opportunity to learn more about different fields and from the life experience of the participants," said Mary Helen Nesbitt, student affairs specialist. "The Old Masters are different each year, so a variety of walks of life and careers are represented. Through the program, we are able to honor those who have achieved success. The Old Masters often inspire the students they come in contact with."

Before the program begins, a reunion for past Old Masters, central committee members and hosts and hostesses will take place at 6 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 3) at the Lawson Computer Science Building.

From 7-9 p.m. Sunday (Nov. 4), the Old Masters will introduce themselves to members of the Purdue faculty and staff at Dauch Alumni Center.

Beginning Monday (Nov. 5), the Old Masters will visit classrooms and residence halls, share informal meals and talk with students. A group of student hosts and hostesses will escort the Old Masters around campus.

One Old Masters event is open to the public - an all-campus reception at 8 p.m. Monday (Nov. 5) in the atrium of Hillenbrand Hall.
