WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue University's Black Cultural Center Library will present a symposium Nov. 3 that will feature presentations and discussions led by scholars in science and technology.

The Connecting Culturally in Engineering, Math and Technology Symposium, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 2 p.m. in the Black Cultural Center, 1100 Third St. It is the third in a series of symposiums, called "Culture and Technology: Moving African Communities Toward a Position of Strength," offered through the library.

"We are pleased to have an array of accomplished and new professionals, noted scholars and outstanding students who can contribute to the national conversation on engineering, math and technology," said BCC librarian Dorothy Washington. "We also are pleased to have secured area experts in community and international collaboration and engagement as we continue to explore ways to engage the local community, as well as encourage students to become better local and global citizens. Their knowledge and expertise should provide valuable insight as well as inspiration."

Presenters will be Keena Byrd, a doctoral student in the School of Industrial Engineering; Latanya Jenkins, a visiting assistant professor and diversity fellow in the Purdue Libraries;  Johnny Brown, a professor in the Department of Mathematics;  Marques Fulford, a senior in the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics and library aide from Normal, Ill.;  and Satia Orange, director of Literacy and Outreach for the American Library Association.
