College of Technology at Kokomo names interim director

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Kevin D. Taylor has been selected as interim director of the College of Technology at Kokomo.

Taylor, who has been an associate professor of electrical engineering technology at Kokomo since 1992, is overseeing operations for the College of Technology at Kokomo, located on the Indiana University Kokomo campus. The college's Kokomo location serves the educational and work force training needs for six north central Indiana counties, including an enrollment of more than 200 students.

Taylor teaches lower-division courses in DC circuits, power and rotating machinery, and upper-division courses in course design and professional issues for engineering technology. He is the co-affiliate director of Indiana Project Lead the Way.

He previously was an assistant professor of engineering at Penn State University and has worked as a private consultant and engineer.

Taylor received bachelor's and master's degrees in electrical engineering from Iowa State University in 1983 and Southern Methodist University in 1986, respectively.

In addition to Taylor, the following new faculty have joined the College of Technology at Kokomo this year:

* Steve Jones, a visiting assistant professor of computer and information technology.

* Lisa Kilmer, an assistant professor of computer graphics technology.

The Kokomo location offers degrees in computer graphics technology, computer and information technology, electrical engineering technology, mechanical engineering technology, and organizational leadership and supervision.

Purdue's College of Technology educates more than 5,400 undergraduate students each year at its 11 locations throughout Indiana: West Lafayette, Anderson, Muncie, Columbus, Greensburg, Indianapolis, Kokomo, Lafayette, New Albany, Richmond and South Bend. Positioned to address the work force and educational needs of local citizens and corporate entities, each location's programs and degree options are dependent on regional work force needs.
