Campus urged to sign up for text messaging test

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue plans to test a text messaging system in late September. So far, about 6,000 students, faculty and staff have signed up, said Scott Ksander, executive director of information technology networks and security.

To make the test valid, however, we need three times that number. It's simple to register. Go to https://www.purdue.edu/securepurdue  and click on "Change My Password." Enter your career account name and password, and then select the "Emergency Contact Information" link.

We will use the information from this test to determine what works, what can be improved, and how best to evaluate a system for the campus. The university will use the system only for this test and emergencies involving public safety.
