Purdue brings peer institutions together for future graduate students

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - More than 40 institutions of higher education will converge Sept. 24 on the Purdue University campus for the Big 10+ Graduate School Exposition.

The event, which will be in the Purdue Memorial Union's South Ballroom, is a cooperative effort to provide students with information about graduate education and will feature several activities.

Students interested in pursuing graduate study in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, agriculture, pharmacy, veterinary medicine and related disciplines will have a chance to talk to faculty and students from various institutions. Workshops on funding graduate study, applying to graduate school and choosing a graduate program also will be presented.

The National Science Foundation will have a presentation on its Graduate Research Fellowship program and other governmental programs, and a panel discussion with industry representatives, professors and current graduate students also will take place.

"This is a wonderful opportunity for students to obtain comprehensive information about graduate education and research opportunities at a variety of graduate institutions," said Dana Werner, Purdue's director of recruitment services. "By attending the Expo, they can talk to professors, current graduate students and staff about graduate school and what steps are necessary to set them on the path they choose."

Purdue students have two options for attending the Expo. They may attend the graduate school fair and other activities except meals for free, or they may participate in all Expo events, including meals, and pay the regular registration fee of $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Purdue students should visit the special Purdue student registration site at https://www.cec.purdue.edu/eC2K/CourseListing.asp?master_id=1927&
