WBAA hires new general manager

Singleton has nearly 25 years of experience in public radio management and currently serves as general manager at WEKU, the public radio station at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Ky. He said that experience, which includes on-air hosting and grant administration, will help him lead WBAA into the future.
The general manager is responsible for fundraising, marketing, staff supervision and ensuring that the station adheres to government and university regulations. Singleton also will work with the program director to develop programming that fulfills the station's mission to "engage, educate and entertain," which includes further development of WBAA's growing local news initiative.
Singleton, originally from Decatur, Ind., was selected from a national pool of candidates to replace Dan Skinner, who left to become president of Texas Public Radio. Singleton received his bachelor's and master's degrees in radio and television from Indiana University. He has taught at Indiana University, Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne and the University of New Mexico and has managed broadcast facilities in Indiana, Alaska and New Mexico.

WBAA-AM, licensed in 1922, is Indiana's longest continuously operating radio station, and 920-AM provides almost 2.5 million Hoosiers with news, information, public affairs, jazz, folk and other eclectic music. The programming can be heard globally via the station's Web site.
